The 2021 “Type 2” 1 ounce $50 Gold Eagle is considered the premier gold bullion coin of the United States, and is recognized the world over. It showcases Saint-Gaudens’ timeless Lady Liberty design, with the reverse showing the new “Type 2” eagle profile, designed by Jennie Norris, the coin’s troy weight, and the nominal face value of $50. While containing a full troy ounce of gold, the Eagle weighs slightly more than a troy ounce. It is minted in the 1986 legislated gold alloy of 91.67% gold, with the remaining mix in silver and copper.
